Convivial Tuscan cuisine

Chef Filippo Saporito’s goal is to create “convivial Tuscan cuisine” as much as possible, in which the beauty of the meal is not only in the food but in the harmony that is conveyed by the commingling of the location, food, chef and guests. The combination of “cuisine, art and nature” is a hat trick that works if a culinary heritage is found in a place that is also rich in history.

A legend that becomes reality

“La Leggenda dei Frati” is a restaurant that Saporito founded together with his wife, chef Ombretta Giovannini. It was originally inside the old abbey of Abbadia Isola in Siena, a place the Chef considered a research centre, which allowed him to collect and experiment the vast amount of recipes of the area, becoming in a short time a culinary laboratory that could portray the value of the surrounding lands.

From the Abbey to Villa Bardini

From the Siena countryside of Castellina in Chianti, in 2015, the Leggenda dei Frati moved to the centre of Florence in a beautiful garden inside Villa Bardini. Villa Bardini is an Art Museum, located a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio. It is immersed in a garden consisting of four hectares of forest and a fruit orchard flanked by the medieval walls of the City. And so it goes that nature, myth, art, know-how and Tuscan heritage come together with the ingredients on the table of the Leggenda.
